Route Description
From Victoria Park, follow a tarmac path past a notice board and up onto the cliffs. There are several geological features that can be seen carved out of the sandstone by the waves including caves, geos, arches and stacks.
Part of the path has been damaged by a landslide, follow the diversion heading down some steps to Carlingheugh Bay where there is a pebbly beach.
Walk along to the other side of the bay where another set of steps lead back up to the clifftop and turn right to continue to follow the path along the cliffs. Eventually the path leaves the cliffs passing some cottages as it heads to Auchmithie. This pretty fishing village is worth exploring the road leading down to the harbour.
Retrace your steps for the return, alternatively there is a bus back to Arbroath from Auchmithie.
Please note – The cliff path along this route is prone to erosion, please follow any signs or diversions that are in place.
Points of interest around this route include Arbroath Abbey and the Signal Tower Museum.
