  • Wild About the Basin – Every Wednesday from 2 July to 13 August: Discover what sorts of creatures make Montrose Basin their home, with new activities each week including pond-dipping, making nature-themed art, and mini beast hunts.
  • Hamish McHaggis Family Day – Saturday 5 July: Step into the world of Hamish, Rupert, Angus, and Jeannie and the book set at Glamis Castle, with a special children’s castle tour and the chance to meet Hamish himself!
  • Animal Encounters Summer Series – Monday 7 July to Monday 18 August: From cuddly bunnies and squeaky guinea pigs to fascinating lizards and creepy crawlies, these sessions at Upper Dysart offer fun, safe and educational encounters with real animals.
  • Hunt for the Missing Dun Castle – Saturday 12 July: A fascinating historical adventure awaits! Can you help uncover the secrets of the missing Dun Castle?
  • Kingennie Family Fun Day – Sunday 13 July: Head to Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort for a day packed with family-friendly entertainment, including putting, fishing and a treasure trail!
  • Alice in Wonderland Adventure Circus – Saturday 19 July: Inspired by the magic of Alice in Wonderland, this whimsical 35-minute show is packed with circus acts sure to delight the whole family. After the performance, you will be invited to have a go at various circus skills yourself!
  • Day Out with Thomas – Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 July: All aboard to join Thomas the Tank Engine and friends at the Caledonian Railway for a magical day that train-lovers won’t forget. Full steam ahead!
  • Glamis Castle Summer Family Fun Day – Sunday 10 August: Experience the grandeur of Glamis Castle with a day dedicated to family fun, including Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, Denver’s Den Adventure Playground, Inflatable Chip Shot Golf and much more!

Theatre Delights for Young Audiences

Angus is also bringing some fantastic live shows to the stage this summer, perfect for inspiring young minds and enjoying a captivating performance.

  • Milkshake! Live – Sunday 13 July: Join your favourite Milkshake! characters for a song and dance extravaganza that will have the little ones bopping along!
  • Ministry of Science – Saturday 26 July: Prepare to be amazed and educated by the incredible experiments and explosive demonstrations from the Ministry of Science!
  • Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter’s The Dinosaur That Pooped – Friday 1 August: Get ready for roars of laughter with this hilarious and messy theatrical adaptation of the beloved children’s book!

Explore with Exciting Trails

Angus is a fantastic place for exploring, and these dedicated trails make it even more exciting for kids.

  • Become a Wee Angus Adventurer with the all-new Farm Trail Passport! It’s a brilliant way to discover some of Angus’s amazing farm attractions – Murton Farm & Nature Reserve and Newton Farm near Forfar, and Charleton Farm and Upper Dysart near Montrose. Collect stickers from each location and on completion of the tour you will receive a special reward!
  • Find the Dragon Trail at Glamis Castle! Complete various clues to visit marked locations where you might find a glimpse of a dragon or two. Available from 5 July to 31 August.
  • Discover more exciting self-led adventures with our fantastic Children’s Trails – explore playparks, museums, attractions, soft play, beaches and even a scavenger hunt. Perfect for a day out at your own pace!

For those looking for structured fun and a chance to try new things, Angus has some fantastic programmes running throughout July and August.

  • ANGUSalive is pulling out all the stops with their Summer Holiday Activities Programme. From thrilling Outdoor Adventure Camps and Cycle Adventures for the energetic, to inspiring Art Competitions and engaging Theatre Stars School for the creative minds, there’s no shortage of excitement. Little ones will adore the Sensory Play and Bouncy Castle Sessions, while aspiring naturalists can become Junior Rangers.   • Nestled in the beautiful Angus countryside, Murton is offering a wonderful Summer Programme that connects children with nature and local heritage.
