State of the Union at Montrose Folk Club

Montrose Playhouse favourites, Boo Hewerdine and Brooks Williams, aka State of the Union, create a magical and enthralling musical atmosphere with two guitars and two voices. Their consistently brilliant performances are in equal parts emotive and entertaining.

The songs, which State of the Union create, combine wit, whimsy and pathos. Both Boo and Brooks have an impeccable sense of rhythm and melodic beauty. Their sound is huge, two guitars and two voices exceeding the sum of the parts. They interweave melodies and harmonies, nimble picking and full-tilt chording.

Over two decades, Boo Hewerdine has written thousands of published songs, including those for Eddi Reader, Chris Difford, Kris Drever and K D Lang.. Americana Singer Songwriter and guitarist, Brooks Williams, originally from North Carolina, but now resident in Cambridge, England, has been ranked as one  of the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists in the World.

State of the Union will release their fourth Album, “Paper Tigers “, shortly before their gig at Montrose Playhouse, which is the first of their 2025 U.K. Tour.
