Paul McKenna Band at Montrose Folk Club

Paul McKenna has long been ranked as Scotland’s finest Male Singer of the younger generation.  Paul possesses a powerful, yet intensely emotive, voice and passionate social conscience, a combination, which has brought frequent comparisons to the great Dick Gaughan.

The five-piece Paul McKenna Band have forged a dynamic amalgam of Scottish and Irish traditional Roots with contemporary acoustic popular music. Over the 15-year career of the band, Paul McKenna’s arresting original compositions have come increasingly to the fore. The Band are Robbie Greig, on fiddle, Conal McDonagh, on pipes and whistles, Conor Markey, banjo, bouzouki and guitars, and Ewan Baird, on percussion, behind Paul himself on guitar and lead vocals.

Paul McKenna is a previous winner of the Scots Singer of the Year Award at the Scots Trad Music Awards. In 2019, Paul was a featured Artist at the world-renowned Transatlantic Sessions. Alongside Cara Dillon, Tim O’Brien and Molly Tuttle, and the multi-talented House Band, Paul performed a string of shows across the U.K., in addition to the residency at Celtic Connections itself.
