Arbroath 2020+1 – Festival Flags

Dundee Print Collective have been commissioned to design a series of festival flags to mark the anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath which will be installed and displayed on Arbroath High St transforming the town into a riot of colour.
The striking and contemporary artworks represent the culture, geography and history of Arbroath, referencing Medieval design, primary colours and graphic shapes but incorporating contemporary imagery.
The artworks will be printed on large scale flags to be installed and displayed in Arbroath High Street for Arbroath 2020+1 festival launching in April 2021.
Using drawings made by local young people who were considering modern-day Arbroath and it historical significance, we created a family of designs inspired by the declaration of Arbroath. Seals and the Quill, Arbroath Abbey, Fishing History and Arbroath Smokies, Arbroath today a soft fruit Growing region in 1320 Benedictine monks introduced many new varieties of fruit including the Oslin Apple. The Coast, Golf and Pringle of Scotland.
