Angus Cycling Roadshow

Welcome to the Angus Cycling Roadshow.

Come along and enjoy a fun-filled day, with a range of activities providing cycling opportunities for all. All activities will be available free of charge.

This is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about cycling, learn cycling skills and discover more about cycling in Angus. With the upcoming UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023, now has never been a better time to get into cycling and enjoy the benefits that come with this popular sport.

Dates and Locations…

This fantastic event will take place on the following dates in September 2022 across Angus:

  • Saturday 17 September at Montrose Sports Centre
  • Sunday 18 September at Brechin Community Campus
  • Saturday 24 September at Carnoustie Leisure Centre
  • Sunday 2 October at Forfar Loch Country Park (adjacent to playpark) – rescheduled from 11 September – please note adaptive bike trials will not be available on this date
  • Sunday 9 October at Beacon Green, Arbroath (beside Arbroath Harbour) – rescheduled from 10 September – please note adaptive bike trials will not be available on this date

Events will take place from 11am to 4pm.

These are drop-in events so no need to book, just turn up and join in the fun. Please note however that some activities, including Dr Bike and bike trials have a limited capacity and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

What’s on offer…

Bike Skills Track – a fantastic opportunity for young and old to increase their bike skills and try mountain biking in a controlled but fun environment.

Dr Bike – get a check-up for your bike and make sure it is in full working order…fully trained mechanics can check your brakes, gears, tyres and components.

Crazy Bikes – these oddball bikes, including recumbents, cyclo bikes, unicycles, tandems, reverse steering bikes, trikes and carts are a great way to enjoy exercise and get active

Smoothie Bike – concoct your very own recipe of fruit smoothie then, with pedal power, mix and enjoy it.

Electric bikes – trained coaches will be on hand to provide trial sessions on a range of electric bikes. 

Adaptive bikes – trained coaches will be on hand to provide trial sessions on wheelchair bikes and side-by-side bikes for people with disabilities and their family or friends, giving people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to cycle together.

Knowledgeable staff will also be on hand to provide information about Angus, including active travel and cycling trails.

In addition, visitors can take the opportunity for a tour of the gym facilities and enjoy a taster session at Montrose Sports Centre (Saturday 17 September, 11am to 1pm) and Brechin Community Campus (Sunday 18 September, 11am to 3pm). Sportswear must be worn in order to try out the equipment.

Getting here…

Beacon Green – Arbroath, DD11 1PU
Event will be held on the grass area between Arbroath Harbour Visitor Centre and Signal Tower Museum.

Accessible on foot and by bike. Parking available. Toilet facilities at Arbroath Harbour Visitor Centre – male, female, baby changing, RADAR unit and Changing Places. Open 9am to 5pm.

Food and drink is available from a range of cafes and shops around the harbour area, including the Old Boatyard restaurant within the visitor centre (booking advisable). Feel free to bring a picnic but please clean up after yourself.

Forfar Loch Country Park – Craig O Loch Rd, Forfar, DD8 1BT
Event will be held on the grass area adjacent to the playpark.

Accessible on foot and by bike. Parking available. Toilet facilities at Forfar Loch Ranger Centre – unisex, baby changing, suitable for people with disabilities. Open 10am to 6pm.

Food and drink is available from a range of cafes and shops in the town centre which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the country park. Feel free to bring a picnic but please clean up after yourself.

Montrose Sports Centre – Marine Avenue, Montrose, DD10 8TR

Accessible on foot and by bike. Parking available. Toilet facilities at Montrose Sports Centre – male, female, baby changing, Changing Places. Open 9am to 4pm.

Food and drink is available from Madison’s Cafe (open 9am to 3pm).

Brechin Community Campus – Duke Street, Brechin, DD9 6LB

Accessible on foot and by bike. Parking available. Toilet facilities at Brechin Community Campus – male, female, baby changing, suitable for people with disabilities. Open 9am to 4pm.

Food and drink is available from Madison’s Cafe (open 10am to 2pm).

Carnoustie Leisure Centre – Links Parade, Carnoustie, DD7 7JB

Accessible on foot and by bike. Parking available. Toilet facilities at Carnoustie Leisure Centre – male, female, baby changing, suitable for people with disabilities. Open 9am to 12 noon. Toilets also available within Madison’s Cafe (for customer use).

Food and drink is available from Madison’s Cafe (open 9.30am to 4.30pm).
