Winter Wellness at Museums: Capturing Wildlife – Art Workshop
3 February 2025, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
£10Montrose Museum is delighted to host a special art workshop from wildlife artist Michelle Hewitt who focuses her artistic talents on depicting local wildlife.
Michelle’s fascination with nature began in her childhood when her primary school teacher introduced her to Albrecht Durer’s Young Hare, a moment that profoundly influenced her artistic journey. In her paintings, she aims to convey the essence of her subjects, starting with the eyes, which she considers to be the windows to the soul. Primarily working with pastels, she markets her artwork globally and participates in numerous public exhibitions.
The day long workshop promises to be enjoyable and rejuvenating, catering to both novices and those with more experience. We will begin by exploring fundamental sketching techniques before moving on to create a piece inspired by the natural history exhibits at the Montrose Museum. We will be working with soft pastels and/or watercolours. You will be amazed at your accomplishments and will leave with a completed framed artwork that you can proudly claim as entirely your own.
This workshop is linked to our ‘Natural History, Living World project’ and subsidised by Museums Galleries Scotland.
