Architecture Talk: Peter St John on Caruso St John

Every year our Friend’s Programme features talks and events that are close to the development of the Trust. Peter’s talk is part of the programme for 2024 and we are opening it for all to attend, at a time to coincide with Dundee Design Festival.

Caruso St John are a leading architectural practice with offices in London and Zurich. They have designed many new cultural buildings and contributed their design vocabulary to an amazing number of existing heritage buildings.

In 2014 the Hospitalfield Trust appointed Caruso St John Architects to develop the Future Plan masterplan. We have completed several phases of this Plan, the only work that this practice have developed in Scotland. We are now in the design phase for the investment into Hospitalfield House and the delivery of a new building; the Collection Study Centre.

The Collection Study Centre will be the first port of call for all those visiting Hospitalfield, it will feature a gallery, archive and open store. This new building, will allow us introduce our visitors to the amazing range of archival material held in the collections at Hospitalfield which is both of local and international interest.

Peter will talk about the approach that he and his partner Adam Caruso have taken to architecture and their specific design principles for Hospitalfield.
