After lunch, head out for a scenic walk to Loch Brandy, a hidden gem nestled in the Angus Glens.

Sitting 610 meters (2,000 feet) above sea level, this mountain loch offers stunning panoramic views and a chance to spot some unique wildlife, including the rare orange diatom, a tiny water creature that can only be found here.

A fantastic example of a mountain corrie, the craggy slopes surrounding the loch make it an ideal place for a peaceful hike.

Start day three with one of the area’s main attractions, Montrose Basin.

A must-see for any nature lover, the basin covers more than 75- hectares and is home to over 80,000 migratory birds, including common terns, kingfishers, and more.

From September to October, it’s one of the best spots in Scotland to see pink-footed geese, with four remote hides across the reserve to choose from. You may even spot a seal or two.

Next, enjoy a walk to Scurdie Ness Lighthouse, built in 1870 by the renowned Stevenson family. Perched on the edge of a rugged coastline, the lighthouse offers one of the most scenic walks in Angus.

While the lighthouse itself is not open to the public (having been converted to automatic operation in 1987), the surrounding coastal path provides stunning views.
