About This Event
Step into spring at Glamis Castle!
Step aboard our Beater Wagon for a scenic tractor tour of Glamis Castle Gardens including a stop at The Dell, a seasonal spot where snowdrops flourish. Back in the East Woodlands our gardening team will welcome you before offering you chance to plant a selection of single and double snowdrop bulbs.
After this, you can gather around our outdoor firepit to toast marshmallows before taking home a snowdrop to plant in your own garden.
We will be supplying some tools and staff will be on hand to direct and answer questions. Please do bring your own trowel, gardening gloves and a kneeler should you prefer.
Spaces on the garden tour are limited, and on a first-come basis.
Lego Model Reveal: Be among the first to admire the extraordinary Bowes Museum Lego model that we will have on display throughout 2026. Built from around 40,000 pieces and stretching 1.8 metres long, this impressive replica captures the exterior of the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, County Durham. Originally created as the centrepiece for the museum’s 2019 exhibition, we are delighted to host it here at Glamis for the 2026 open season.
You may wonder about the connection between Glamis Castle and the Bowes Museum. The answer lies in family heritage as Glamis Castle has long been the family home of the Bowes Lyon family, most notably the childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes‑Lyon, the Queen Mother. This special link makes the arrival of the Bowes Museum model at Glamis all the more meaningful.
Over our Snowdrop Weekends, everyone can view the model within our Coach House whilst children can also get creative with some arts and crafts activities.
Food and Drink: Our Castle Kitchen Restaurant will be serving a selection of hot food and drinks to warm you up after your gardening efforts!
Tickets: Access to our Snowdrop Festival is included within the Gardens and Grounds admission tickets: £6.00 per adult, £3 per child (5 – 16 years) and free for children under 5.
