About This Event

Damn Tall Buildings, from Brooklyn, New York, are an outstanding Folk Bluegrass band, known for their soulful melodies and harmonies, as well as their exciting instrumentation. They play for us at Montrose Playhouse, immediately after a Headline appearance at the Shetland Folk Festival.

Damn Tall Buildings are a trio of Max Capistran, Sasha Dubyk and Avery Ballotta, who between them play fiddle, guitar, banjo and double bass. Initially honing their skills through busking, the band bring an infectious energy to their music.

The varied influences of Damn Tall Buildings extend beyond bluegrass, incorporating elements of old-time, blues and jazz into their songwriting. With seamless vocal harmonies and dynamic instrumental solos, critics have praised their ability to craft a musical blend, which defies categorisation, while offering warmth, enthusiasm and depth.

The band released their fourth full-length Album, entitled ” The Universe is Hungry “, late in 2025. The Record showcases outstanding songwriting from the band members, which explores the quiet chaos of modern life. Admission for this vibrant concert is £15, payable in cash at the door, or tickets can be purchased beforehand by emailing brucekenneth130@gmail.com.
