Crawling by Rosie McGregor
About This Event
Rosie McGregor is a mother and artist from Ullapool on the west coast of Scotland, now living in rural Angus. She studied Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee, and in 2020 became a mother.
Becoming a parent has been the source of inspiration for her subsequent work, highlighting the paradox in emotion, the joy and overwhelm. She makes detailed ink drawings showing the chaotic domestic scenes she finds herself in during her days and nights, with an aim to connect with other parents and highlight an often overlooked role of the mother in our society.
The detailed scenes with their repetitive marks also aim to capture a sense of the mental turmoil often felt by mothers and make public the very private life of so many mothers.
Free to visit and no booking required, just come along during the museum opening hours.
