A Forfar Bridie is a simple, but delicious, hand-held meat pie made in a horseshoe shape using shortcrust pastry, with a filling of steak mince, secret seasoning, and sometimes onion. You can pick up a bridie at either Saddlers or McLarens bakeries in the town centre.
Meffan Museum is worth a visit if you’d like to learn more about the town, including the history of the Forfar Bridie. The farm shop has a tasty range of fresh grown produce including local meats, cheeses, chutneys, biscuits, bread, eggs, chocolate and a wide range of delicious foodstuffs. You’ll also find artwork, gifts, crafts, homewares, scarves and hats.
Visitors are welcome to come along and pick their own produce, with seasonal offerings throughout the year including pumpkins in October and Christmas trees in December.
