Murton’s visitor farm is home to a collection of loveable animals and rare breed poultry, which live around the farm’s central pond.

Here you will see many breeds of chickens and ducks you will probably never have seen before. Information boards will tell you all about the animals and birds as you wander around the farm.

Come and see the cute ferrets, guinea pigs and maybe even get the chance to pet them in the petting area.

There are plenty of activities for the kids including trampolines, sand pits, pedal toys and a variety of outdoor games.

You can also enjoy a stroll around the lochs and wetlands which are home to a variety of birds and wildfowl. Families can hire a rucksack (book online before visiting) filled with items to inspire the whole family to learn and enjoy their day out.

The watersports centre at Monikie Country Park offers a wide range of exciting activities, including windsurfing, rafting, dinghy sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing.

Individual and taster sessions are a fantastic way to try new skills, meet like-minded people and engage in outdoor physical activity.

Opening on 3 May 2025, don’t miss the brand new Angus Aqua Splash – endless fun for all ages with an inflatable obstacle course on the water.

For an afternoon of golf in a beautiful setting, look no further than Carnoustie Golf Links. There are three courses but the Championship Course is the ultimate test of links golf, featuring the toughest closing stretch of golf holes anywhere.

Established in 1842, this course has hosted The Open on eight occasions, most recently the 147th Open in July 2018. It has also hosted the Ricoh British Women’s Open, the Senior Open and is one of the three courses used for the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

You should book in advance to play on any of the courses. Junior (14 to 18 year olds) and juvenile (13 years old and younger) players are welcome. Children, families and beginners can play on The Nestie, a short, five-hole course that’s free to play and open to everyone.

If your game is rained off or you fancy something a bit different, head to Links House, a world-class facility where you can enjoy a unique, state-of-the-art indoor golf experience – the seven Foresight simulator bays in the building’s Carnoustie Performance Centre. You can book a 60 or 120 minute session.
