Arbroath Cliff Tours

Description:

Arbroath Cliff Tours provides breathtaking adventure tours of Arbroath’s beautiful coastline and of the incredible cave network hidden deep underground. We currently offer kayaking, swimming, walking, sauna and meditation experiences.

Arbroath Cliff Tours is run by Cameron Smith, an Arbroath local who has spent 25 years exploring the cliffs between Arbroath and Auchmithie. Cameron has kayaked all over the world, is part of Arbroath’s RNLI Lifeboat crew, is an RNLI trained beach lifeguard and is Paddlesports & First Aid trained. He is passionate about writing music, climbing mountains, photography, reading and anything adventure.

Kayak Tour:

The Arbroath cliffs are one of the greatest kayaking locations in the whole of the UK. On our kayaking tour we explore multiple sea caves, land on secret underground beaches, look for ancient stalactites and explore interesting caverns full of sealife. On the coastline we keep our eyes peeled for bottlenose dolphins and seals, spot seabirds and hear stories from the time of Arbroath’s smuggling days.

Swim Tour:

Join us for a swim at the greatest swimming spot at the cliffs, Mermaid’s Kirk. Before our swim we will enjoy a short 30 minute walk along the cliffs to the beautiful Dickmont’s Den. Along the way we will view ‘The Needles Eye’, ‘Seaman’s Grave’, and ‘The Blowhole’. We will try locally roasted coffee, learn how the tides and swell work, learn of Arbroath’s interesting geology, spot seabirds (and hopefully dolphins) and hear tales of our smuggling days. After this we swim together through a magnificent cave tunnel.

Walking Tours:

There are currently 2 types of walking tours on offer.

  • Stalactite Cave Tour – The Stalactite Cave is a 300ft long seacave that fully fills up with water and can only be accessed on foot at certain times of the month. We have a short window of time to walk in and explore this incredible cave before the tide rises again.
  • The BIG Smokie Tour – The BIG Smokie tour takes you on a fun walking adventure from Arbroath to Auchmithie – home of the Arbroath Smokie. Here we will enjoy a hearty traditional Scottish meal together. We will see some stunning scenery such as ‘The Needle’s eye’, ‘Dickmont’s Den’ and ‘The Deils heid’. We will explore 3 large caves, lookout for dolphins and seabirds, learn how the tides and swell works, enjoy locally roasted coffee at our favourite picnic spot, watch videos of local cliff jumpers, hear tales from our infamous smuggling days and learn about Arbroath’s unique geology.

Meditation:

Discover the ultimate relaxation experience with our guided meditation soundbath in a cave, by the sea. Picture a candlelit cave where the aroma of incense mingles with the fresh sea air, the sound of the sea waves breaking nearby, accompanied by the mesmerising sounds from the crystal singing bowls.

Sauna:

Join us for a relaxing sauna by the sea. Our pop-up sauna tent will be erected in one of Angus’ beautiful coastal locations with Arbroath lighthouse museum beach and Auchmithie harbour being the most popular.

We are passionate about providing an unforgettable experience while keeping our guests safe.
