The Pictish Room is part of Aberlemno Village Hall and provides information on the Pictish heritage of Angus and beyond. The Flemington stone (excavated in 2022) is now housed in Aberlemno Hall with information panels. Located with wonderful views of Angus, the evidence of previous people is all around.
From the car park, the famous Aberlemno carved stones can be viewed and easily accessed. There is a car park at the hall with the stones either visible or, in the case of the Battle Stone, easily accessible at Aberlemno Church. Views of the surrounding hill forts demonstrate the dominance of local hills and Iron Age sites of some importance.
The venue is staffed and run by friendly volunteers who are always happy to help but are not experts. Which is why we have an expert on hand to lead a guided tour of the stones.
Booking is not required to visit the Pictish Room, but guided walks must be booked in advance. See https://aberlemno.org/ for details of walks and how to book.
There will be refreshments available to buy and toilet facilities.
While there is disabled access to the hall and refreshments, the Pictish Room unfortunately is up steps and so not accessible to all.
If visiting the stones, please wear sensible footwear and be aware of traffic.
