About the venue:

Discover the humble Scottish roots behind an American legend. The Davidson Legacy Cottage is the lovingly restored childhood home of William C. Davidson – father of the founding brothers of the world-famous Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

Step back into the mid-19th century and see what life was like before modern running water, indoor plumbing, or fitted kitchens. It was from this very cottage that 11-year-old William emigrated to America with his family in 1857. Decades later, he would build a modest 10′ x 15′ workshop for his sons in Milwaukee, USA – a structure affectionately known as “The Shed” that laid the foundations for a global icon in 1903.

Previously known as Netherton Cottage, this historic site was recently saved from demolition and development. Since March 2025, it has been proudly community-run, thanks to the dedicated efforts of local fundraisers, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, and UK Government funding.

Whether you want to soak in the history at your own pace or hear the stories firsthand, thousands of visitors from across the globe have made the pilgrimage to this remarkable site.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be available.
