Swifts, glorious swifts! Evening talk and walk
About This Event
Join us for an evening learning about swifts and how we can help them.
Swift numbers have dropped by over 62% in the last 25 years, so they need all the help they can get! The evening will start with a talk from Daniele Muir, from Perthshire Wildlife and Tayside Swifts, followed by a walk where you will learn all about swifts, how we can all help them at home and take part in the easy survey to help protect their nests. Get top tips on how to tell swifts from swallows and martins, how to spot a swift nest site and get training on how to use Swiftmapper to log your records to help conserve this amazing bird.
The talk will be held at Montrose Basin Visitor Centre, starting at 7pm. This will be followed by a walk, which is free as part of the Angus Coastal Towns Swift Conservation Project, meeting at 8.30pm at the Lower Hall Street car park in Montrose (What3Words link https://what3words.com/voters.irrigated.loitering). Bring binoculars if you have them.
Family friendly, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for the walk around Montrose.
No need to book, please email secretary@swtdundeeangus.org.uk if you require further information.
This event is free, but donations (up to £5) are always welcome. All donations help us to continue to bring an interesting and varied selection of events to our audience as well as supporting local wildlife causes. Please donate if you can.
