Arbroath is a traditional links golf course in Scotland with subtle undulations providing testing challenges throughout its entire length. Natural and exposed, it can be influenced by the invigorating sea breezes from the east.
This challenging links course in Scotland was originally designed by Old Tom Morris in 1877, however it has since been redesigned, first by Willie Fernie in 1907 and then altered again by James Braid in 1931. It features seven opening holes that head straight out into the links, three cut back and the rest follow the main East Coast railway line that separates the fairways from the beach.
Only a short 10-minute drive from neighbouring Carnoustie, Arbroath is a real treat for discerning golfers who love links courses and is well worth including in a Scottish golf trip.
Arbroath is home to the Arbroath Abbey where the Declaration of Arbroath was sign in 1320. While you are here, you must try the famous Arbroath Smokie, a local delicacy dating back centuries.
