There are four stones with Pictish carvings in the village of Aberlemno, dating between about AD 500 and 800. Three stand on a roadside, while one stands in the village churchyard.
The stones show a range of characteristic Pictish symbols. The stone in the churchyard is an upright cross slab made of red sandstone and is over 2 metres tall. This is one of few Pictish stones which depict a battle scene and has been interpreted as representing the Battle of Dunnichen in 685AD.

Aberlemno Sculptured Stones can be viewed from 1 April to 30 September. The stones are vulnerable to frost damage and cold winter conditions, and so are covered with wooden boxes from the last working day of September until the first working day of April.
