Steam Sundays at Caledonian Railway
About This Event
Steam trains officially stopped running on the Britain’s mainlines on 11th August 1968, but here at the Caledonian Railway you can once again relive and experience the delights of steam on selected Sundays throughout the summer.
Take a leisurely trip along our four mile branch line and enjoy the views. You can start your journey at either our terminus station in the small town of Brechin of our countryside stop at Bridge of Dun, located about 3 miles west of Montrose.
Journey times between stations are 20 minutes, with a 15 minute stop off at both stations.
The Angus countryside is magnificent at this time of year and at Bridge of Dun station you have the choice to extend your visit to include a walk up to the National Trust property at House of Dun and view its extensive gardens – only a 20 minute walk from our station, or perhaps take a walk to Montrose Basin Local Nature Reserve to see the local wildlife – pick up one of our free “Walks From Bridge of Dun” leaflet from one of our leaflet racks.
