LandxSea Monthly – Paid in Blood
About This Event
LandxSea is Scotland’s Environmental Film Festival, held each September at the Montrose Playhouse, bringing a weekend of inspiring films, discussions, and special events to spark green ideas and connections. Now with LandxSea Monthly , we’re bringing that same spirit to audiences year-round.
This carefully curated film series presents fresh, compelling films from around the world — from gripping dramas to eye-opening documentaries — igniting conversations about the environment, people, and our changing planet.
Paid in Blood:
This film, by director Byron Pace, follows an ambitious relocation of elephants from drought-stricken Namibia to the Democratic Republic of Congo, aiming to show the world of conservation in a way that has never been portrayed: raw, gritty, and honest.
Through this journey, we discover the incredible life, history and work of Annette Oelofse and her family as they fight to save the wildlife in their reserve.
Byron’s life has been dedicated to documentary storytelling through film, photography and the written word. Delving deep into the challenging interface between humans, wildlife, and the environment we share. Byron’s mission is to shed light on the difficult realities of the modern world, looking at the facts as we know them, building on science, and understanding the daily struggles people face around the world.
Byron Pace will join us for an in-person Q&A after the film.
