School’s out for summer here in Angus!
To help you keep the little ones entertained throughout the holidays, we’ve pulled together some fun activities and days out here – take a look and see what’s on in Angus.
Angus Council Summer Fun Programme
Angus Council have worked with a number of partner organisations to develop a programme of affordable activities for young people and families over the summer, including sports camps at Strathmore Cricket Club, footgolf at Brechin Golf Club, the Seaside Rock Holiday Club at Arbroath West Links, a summer cinema offer at Montrose Playhouse, and so much more.
ANGUSalive Summer Holiday Programme
ANGUSalive have lots to see and do, inside and out, with special events aplenty, some of which are free, as part of the Angus Council Summer Fun programme.
Their summer holiday programme includes swim sessions, reading challenges, sports camps, climbing courses, museum workshops and behind the scenes tours, raft building, kayaking, canoeing and much more!

Murton Farm, Tearoom & Nature Reserve
Murton Farm, Tearoom & Nature Reserve, located just outside of Forfar, have lots of fantastic events taking place throughout the summer, many of which are free, as part of the Angus Council Summer Fun programme.
Get messy with Murton Tots at the Tipi, exercise your brains with the fun-filled Treasure Hunt, enjoy storytelling around the firepit and get crafty with Murton Makers. And of course, you can always come along to see the friendly animals, let off steam in the extensive play area, and take a stroll around the stunning nature reserve.

Enjoy a Day Out with Thomas on selected dates in July at Caledonian Railway in Brechin. You can also hop on board one of their regular Diesel Saturday or Steam Sunday trains and enjoy a leisurely ride from Brechin to Bridge of Dun.

Family-friendly events
Why not head along to one of the family-friendly fun events taking place in Angus this summer?
See an amazing array of vintage and classic vehicles at the Scottish Transport Extravaganza on 8 & 9 July, and enjoy main ring entertainment by Flyin Ryan Motorcycle Stunt Show. The Kirriemuir Show on 15 July is a great day for all the family with lots of fun activities and things to see.
On Saturday 22 July, pay a visit to Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre for their 110th anniversary Picnic Open Day, complete with a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
And don’t miss the Summer Family Fun Day at Glamis Castle on 13 August, where you’ll find a huge variety of activities and workshops to enjoy, as well as market stalls to browse.

And of course, there’s lots more to see and do here in Angus, including fantastic heritage attractions, fascinating farm experiences, beautiful sandy beaches, fun-filled play parks, as well as indoor attractions including popular soft-play centres and exhilarating cinema and theatre experiences.
