William Lamb Studio Special Opening

William Lamb Studio 700x500

A special (out of season) opening of the Lamb Studio's collection of artworks.

The William Lamb Studio will be opened by the Friends of William Lamb who will provide tours, sales & refreshments. This is Lamb's purpose built Studio from 1934, bequeathed to the people of Montrose in 1951 it contains an outstanding collection of his internationally important sculptures and art. It was converted to a small gallery/museum in 1978.  Lamb was particularly interested in creating "Scottish Art" so he used local models when not undertaking special commissions, such as for the Duchess of York of herself and her daughters the Princesses Elizabeth (HM the Queen) and Margaret Rose in 1932.

See "celebrities" such as Hugh McDiarmid, Agnes Sim,  David Foggie, Edward Baird, Dr Hollins, William Lamb himself, and "the Royals" - but hear the background stories as well.

From 2.30-3.30pm, Mark Spalding will be performing piano music by the late Arbroath Composer Morris Pert to celebrate the 70th anniversary of his birth.

This event is part of Angus Heritage Week, 1 to 10 September 2017
