Event Details

An exhibition to celebrate the Reid Hall’s 150th birthday.

The Reid Hall was founded as a community hall in 1869, but was used for religious services by several congregations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was also a children’s church for a time. When other churches in the town were being repaired or extended (such as when East and Old Church was extended to the north in 1899-1900).

The hall suffered a devastating fire in 1941, which caused the roof to collapse and the interior was destroyed. A temporary roof was put over the building and it was extensively rebuilt after the Second World War, with a new roof, stonework and interior reorganisation. The hall is used today by the community. It stands in well maintained grounds along the busy Brechin Road.

Admission: Free.
