Travel back to the 1960’s and the 1970’s with the Caledonian Railway.
Rekindle some memories or see what it was really like to travel in days gone by with our mainline heritage diesel loco and carriages.
The railway is running a timetable of five trains a day from 10.15am (Bridge of Dun) with 4 departures from Brechin FROM 11:00AM, see timetable opposite. Our line is 4 miles long with the return trip taking just under the hour (includes a 15 minute stopover at Bridge of Dun).
We offer all day tickets that allow you to travel on as many trains as you wish, return tickets that allow you to split your journey at either station to give you more time to explore or single tickets. At an extra cost, there are cab rides (limited numbers), these are available on the day for £5.00 one way, a valid train ticket must be held, children must travel with an adult.
Brechin station is only a short walk away from Brechin city centre and at Bridge of Dun station you have the choice to extend your visit to include a walk up to the National Trust for Scotland property at House of Dun and its extensive gardens, or a walk to Montrose Basin Local Nature Reserve.
Tickets may also be purchased on the day at the Ticket Office. Cards taken at Brechin Station Ticket Office and Shop only. Regret cards cannot be used in the buffets or the Ticket Office at Bridge of Dun.
