Following our preview on Saturday 4th May, our first exhibition is open to the public at the Hub at Friockheim from 5th May to 8th May, and then at venues across Angus including Kirrie Connections, Voluntary Action Angus, Angus Independent Advocacy, Reach Across, Forfar Loch, Murton Farm and Nature Reserve and the Lochty Gallery at Carnoustie Library.
This started from an idea which emerged at an event hosted by See Me and Angus Voice in November 2018. Since then a small team of people with lived experience have worked together to make one or more things happen in Angus during Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. Our aims are raising awareness of mental health, challenging stigma, and celebrating creativity in its many forms.
The exhibition includes around one hundred pieces of work, from poetry to sculpture, and photography to handicrafts. Overall the exhibition captures the power of art for expression, and for catharsis.
The complete exhibition will be held at the Hub at Friockheim until 8 May, then some works will remain there, and others will be distributed to various venues.
