Dropkick at Montrose Folk Club
3 October 2023, 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
£10
Hailing originally from Arbroath, but now based in Edinburgh, Dropkick have drawn on influences, such as Wilco, Teenage Fanclub and Tom Petty to produce their own individual blend of hermony-driven, power-pop for two decades. Since their self-titled debut in 2001, the band have released a further thirteen Albums and three E.P.s.
The Wireless Revolution, released in April 2023, is the band’s most immediate and concise set of recorded songs, showcasing their love of chiming, jangly guitars and tight, layered vocal harmonies. Lyrically, the songs on the Album touch upon the passing of time-relationships, getting older, technology and the changing, post-Covid world, in which we live.
These songs were written and recorded during the band’s return to gigging in 2022 and capture the renewed enthusiasm and sheer joy of being able to make music again.
The band will appear at Montrose Playhouse in their acoustic Duo format, with Founder and principal songwriter, Andrew Taylor, together with Alan Shields, both on vocals and guitars.
Tickets (£10) are available on the door or can be reserved by emailing kenneth@fivefurlongs.plus.com
