Halloween is the spookiest time of the year, loved by children and adults. Here in Angus there are some fantastic events taking place for you to enjoy. We’ve pulled together some of them here to help you plan your celebrations.
The Big Halloween Treasure Hunt and Pumpkin Pick
Brechin Castle Centre
Saturday 1 to Monday 31 October
Visit Brechin Castle Centre to follow the fiendish trail, dodge the ghosts and bats, creep past the giant spiders, cast a spell at the witches’ wagon and brave the haunted wood to search for the five golden skulls hidden there. Afterwards, head to the Pumpkin Patch and pick your own to take home.
Self-Led Halloween Trail
Monikie Country Park
Saturday 1 to Monday 31 October
Explore the spooky trail at Monikie Country Park, and venture into the woods to help Pumpkin Pete find his friends. Pick up your map and puzzles from the Information Centre.
Halloween Family Fun Day
Borrowfield Primary School, Montrose
Sunday 23 October, 1pm to 4pm
Borrowfield Parent Council invite you to their Halloween Fun Day to enjoy a host of activities including games, face painting, pumpkin decorating, a fancy dress parade and more.
Darkside of the Wee Red Toon Walk
Meet at Gateway to the Glens Museum, Kirriemuir
Friday 28 October, 7pm to 8pm
Join this spine-chilling walk over some of Kirriemuir’s creepiest cobbles to hear tales from the past. Make sure not to get lost in the narrowest of closies and wynds, and take care on the creepy cobbles of this old Barrieland town.
Little Scare-lings

Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October
Children aged 3 to 10 are invited to come wearing their scariest costume, get stuck into some terrifying treats and take part in frightfully fun activities. Every child will leave with a certificate showing they are an official Little Scare-ling.
Ghosts of Glamis

Prepare to be thrilled and for lots of scares at Glamis Castle this Halloween. Join the spooky tour guides to hear the stories of the ghosts and ghouls that are said to haunt the grand rooms of the castle, from the Grey Lady to the Tongueless Woman.
Spooky Scottish Stories for Children

Join storyteller and museum professional Eileen Budd to hear tales of Scottish ghosts, ghouls, faeries, witches and discover some of the objects these tales are linked to.
Kirrie Fright Fest

Look no further for some great Halloween fun for all the family, with a haunted house, bouncy castle, scavenger hunt, Halloween snow globe, games, spooky stalls and a pumpkin carving competition.
Haunted Halloween
Arbroath Signal Tower Museum

Visit the Signal Tower Museum after close, if you dare, for a spooky tour and some fun Halloween activities. A prize will be available for the best home-made Halloween costume.
Halloween Ceilidh

Enjoy a great night with a live ceilidh band and stovies served – a fun family event for all ages. Prizes for best dressed, with a Halloween theme, and a raffle with great prizes.
Halloween Walkthrough

Halloween Spooky Trail
Monifieth High Street
Monday 31 October – 6.30pm to 8pm
Wander through Monifieth High Street from the Gerard Hall, following the spooky signs with clues and questions, and be terrified (or laugh at!) by spooky performers. Dress to scare!
