Event Series Event Series: Common or Garden: Alison Scott

Common or Garden: Alison Scott

20 July 2022, 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Common or Garden Alison Scott

Artist Alison Scott, Hospitalfield and Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT) invite people experiencing long term health conditions to participate in eight weekly workshops.

Beginning from site-specific exploration you will explore artistic ideas with words, drawings, collages, poems, images and new writing to create your own artworks. At each gathering we will come together to talk, share, and delve into the multiple histories and stories of the recently restored gardens and fernery at Hospitalfield.

Participants will work with Alison to bring what they have created together as a small collection, in the form of a display at Hospitalfield or a print publication following the six sessions.

Alison Scott is an artist, writer and art-worker based in Arbroath who often works with other artists on projects across forms. Her work is led by ideas and research with performance, writing and print based practices as important aspects of the process of production. Recent work has drawn on daily encounters with weather, land, and the idea of the commons. Alison creates work in collaborations with Rachel McBrinn, Rosie Roberts, and as part of the feminist DIY radio collective open-weather. She has recently been working with organisations like Collective (Edinburgh), Cove Park (Argyll), Fertile Ground (Aberdeen) and MAP magazine.
